A look at the history of LorestanThe ancient land of Iran has been the living place of different tribes with different cultures and languages. The historical documents show a variety of tribes, cultures and languages in periods of history in this country. For example, an epigraph relative to Ardeshir the Second which was found in Hamedan has been mentioned 30 tribes that had formed the Achaemenid Empire. Lors (Lurs) are one of the largest Iranian tribes that came from Central Asia like other Aryans. This tribe has played an important role during the vicissitudinous history of Iran.From another point of view, discoveries of archaeologist indicate that history of Lorestan belongs to 40.000 years ago. Lorestan started Neolithic age and village, agricultural-ranching stage prior to other places. Signs from Ilamians and Kasits confirm this claim. It seems that the oldest government which has ruled Lorestan was Ilam’s government that had an improved strategy and regularity. After Ilamian, we must mention Kasian as the greatest Iranian emperor in the west of Aisa which their signs of culture and civilization have transferred to Medes and Achaemenids in the first half of the millennium before the birth of Christ and the above governments inherited the culture of Kasits unquestionably. Nowadays, bronze remains of Lorestan are still amazing for experts and decorating the worlds’ museums after thousands of years.Lors on their way in the history and defending toward natural enemies, mountains and rough valleys, wild animals, coldness and snow and other violent enemies like Macedonian Alexander, Timur the Lame, Mongol Empire, Ottoman Empire and… were made to change and forget about their strong sense of civil and choose mountains as a shelter and return to the Neolithic age which had been created by themselves. They started farming and ranching again and became ranchers with special spirits. These spirits caused countless results for them. They lost the ambitions of governing and civilization and acquired the poetical soul, solitary and artistry. Thus, all Lors became poets: a poet rancher for his cattle, a poet woman for her drum, a poet mother for her child, a poet warrior for his arm.These special conditions and spirits in Lors are the main reasons which make these people secluded from culture, politics, social and history and let central governments rob their resources.Central governments which didn’t want this tribe to stay strong divided the big Lorestan into two parts; “Big Lor” and “Small Lor” in order to reduce their strength toward central governments. Even, this was not enough for them and in the last days of Safavid dynasty, the Small Lor was also divided into two parts; “Poshtkooh” and “Pishkooh” and Kabirkooh had been located between these two areas, thus Pishkooh was named Lorestan and this modern Lorestan was created. This Lorestan was a small state but resistant to giving taxes to Qajar and Pahlavi dynasties. Therefore, this tribe should be punished and Rezakhan did it. He sent his army and made them to betray by killing some of their leaders.
