Geographical position of Lorestan StateLorestan with the area of 28064 kilometers is located in west of Iran between 46° 51' E to 50° 3'E from Prime Meridian and 32' and 34° 22'N from Equator.This state is limited to Markazi and Hamedan in north, Kermanshah and Ilam in west, Khuzistan in south and Isfahan in east.According to the demography in 1375, the population of this state has been more than 1.584.434 which about 850.016 people were villager, 17.359 people were nonresident and the rest were living in city areas. Related to the last state divisions, this state includes 9 townships, 12 cities, 25 counties and 81 villages. Climate of LorestanZagros mountain range has created a wonderful nature on its way on Lorestan. Beautiful hillsides, marvelous falls, many watery rivers and green and fresh forests have increased the beauty of this nature.Lorestan state is one of the regions which have various and multiple climate. Tropical weather starts in south areas next to Khusistan state and ends with cold weather in north areas near to Markazi and Hamedan states. According to the variety of climate in this state, we can divide it into 4 regions as the following: 1-mountainous area 2- area of valleys 3- area of forests 4-tropical areaGeographical position of KhorramabadKhorramabad is located in 48° 21'E and 33° 29'N and almost in the center of Lorestan and is limited to Selseleh and Delfan in north, Boroujerd in northeast, Aligoudarz and Doroud in east, Poldokhtar in south and Koohdasht in west. About half of the area of this city contains heights and mounds and half of it contains flats. Khorramabad has the area of 6233 kilometers and comparative density of 75.73 people in each square kilometer. The population of Khorramabad in 1355 had been 250.400 which more than %58.1 were villagers and %41.9 was living in the city center. In 1365, the population of this city was 38950 that %64.45 of the villager people reduced and the population of the city increased to %53.55. The rate of annually growth of the population of villages and townships has been %2.2 and the rate of growth in cities has been %7.1 during the ten years between 1365 and 1366. The population of this city increased to 462.133 in 1375 which near to %59.04 were residents in cities, %40.96 was living in villages and %0.7 were nonresidents.The climate and weather of KhorramabadBeing located between cold areas in north and warm areas in south has created two kinds of climate for this city. The north of the city has cold and frigid winters, the center has moderate summers and the south has a mild weather and all four seasons. The boundary area has very cold winters and all around them are covered with snow. These areas have cool summers.
